"Young artist Norys Rodriguez-Ray has played an excellent performance in the Puerto Rican art environment. Since her early student days she has demonstrated exceptional drawing and painting talent, as well for photographic and graphic advertising. Studies from Puerto Rico School of Plastics Arts (years 1998 to 2002), and culminating her studies with a BA Degree, specialized in Theatrical Arts from Sacred Heart University in Puerto Rico (years 2002- 2006), being member of the Honor Circle because of her excellent academic display. She also specialized in Digital Photography, art in which she has realized impressive art-works.
For 12 years Rodriguez-Ray has discharged herself as a versatile artist within the theatrical arts as: Stage Manager, pilot writer; scenic arts, designing and construction, illumination and music arrangements. Production (design and printing) of flyers, editorial photography, and programs; as well as publicity photos and general advertising. As a photographer she specialize in digital fine art photography, restoration, and commercial photography. She has participated in photography contests, in which her samples were categorize as excellent; her latest recognition was awarded by the Puerto Rico Ponce Museum of the Arts.
In August 2008, she left Puerto Rico and the theatrical productions and moved to Dallas, Texas, in the United States, to continue her photography education searching for professional growth. In August 2010, she relocated to Austin, TX. While working as a freelance artist and photographer, she decided to enroll at the Academy of Art University to complete a MFA in Fine Art Photography. Through her journey as a fulltime student of photography at the Academy Rodriguez-Ray discovered her own voice as an artist. Other talented artists within the Puerto Rican plastic and theatrical art community described me as a skilled draftsman and painter, as well as an expressive photographer and graphic artist. Thanks to those words and experiences she developed her own style and techniques through her artwork by constructing, acting, painting, and illustrating scenes through photomontages, and enriching them by mixed medium techniques.
I'm familiar with Mrs. Rodriguez art pieces, characterized by her sensitivity, creativity and discipline; full of esthetic symbolism, which is representative of any good artist's work. Her experience and inner skills predict a successful future path..."
